Offering part time education programmes that place equal importance in both wellbeing and learning

Our Aims

Offer support and connection quickly

When young people experience barriers to attendance they can feel totally isolated and disconnected. Parents/carers may feel that they cannot access help, there may be long waiting lists for assessments and other services. At Roots we want to be able to offer help quickly, with flexibility around the young person's needs.

Re-engage learning with high aspirations

We create bespoke part-time curriculums at Roots for KS3, KS4 and KS5. We can offer support towards GCSE subjects in English, Maths, Biology and PE. Students can sit their functional skills exams with us in English, maths and digital skills. We also offer a range of vocational qualifications in a variety of subjects including; Arts Award, Cookery, Childcare, Business and enterprise and Expressive Arts. We passionately believe every student should have the autonomy to choose which path is right for them.

At Roots we use the latest technology that combines AI, learning science and neuroscience. We aim to quickly identify where students are with their learning and support them with whatever stage they are working at.

Encourage Social Connections

At Roots we want to create a happy environment that feels safe with a sense of connection and belonging. We do this through the physical environment and emotionally available, highly skilled staff. We build up to working in small groups to encourage social connection with others.

We also know that some families choose to home educate or "flexi school". Roots can offer your family a programme of support.

Improve wellbeing

With a positive sense of self, and wellbeing, learning can take place. We put wellbeing at the heart of our work at Roots.  PSHE is taught as a core subject covering a wide range of topics around relationships and health. Exercise is encouraged as is practical work around nutrition and healthy lifestyles. We model and teach coping and regulation techniques.

Relational work that supports the nervous systems of our students, their families and our staff
